Relax your mind & balance your body
I am a fully qualified and insured reflexologist, holding an ABC level 3 diploma. I studied at the highly regarded London School of Reflexology, where I was trained by Louise Keet, "Britain's leading Reflexologist" -The Mail on Sunday, and author of 'The Reflexology Bible' .
I hold a diploma in pre-conception, pregnancy and post natal care Reflexology, which aids in promoting your body's natural healing processes, and achieving homeostasis; the balance of bodily functions. Reflexology can encourage a deep sense of relaxation, improve sleep and reduce stress, all of which are major factors influencing fertility.
I also hold a diploma in hand reflexology, perfect for corporate settings, events, or combination treatments.
I provide relaxing treatments with the strictest of confidence, using the holistic approach to health and wellbeing. I work with the individual as a whole rather than just treating the presenting symptoms, as I believe that physical, mental and emotional wellbeing are inextricably linked.
As a member of the Association of Reflexologists, I am committed to continuing my professional development, through attending regular courses and continuing research. The AOR hold strict codes of conduct, to ensure all members practise at the highest level in reflexology. I am also first aid qualified.
Reflexology does not claim to diagnose or cure

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing, ancient holistic therapy, based on the principle that particular reflexes on your hands and feet correspond with different regions of the body. Stimulating these reflexes encourages the free flow of the body's natural energy, (often referred to as 'Chi'), and promotes optimum functioning of the body's natural healing processes. Through the stimulation of around 7000 nerves in your feet, alongside the therapist's intention to heal, it is no wonder Reflexology has been said to have many benefits. The most common being; a greater sense of relaxation, better circulation, improved immune system functioning, and regulated sleeping patterns. Reflexology can also help to relieve the symptoms associated with numerous conditions, such as; anxiety and other stress related disorders, sleep disorders, headaches/migraine, neck/back pain, joint pain, digestive disorders, and circulatory issues. It can also be helpful in supporting the body through your journey into fertility, conception, pregnancy (post 1st trimester) and post birth.
A treatment typically lasts approximately one hour, although the initial treatment will last approximately one hour and 15 minutes. This is because it includes a medical and lifestyle review, to ensure the treatments are tailored to your needs. In order for you to gain the greatest benefits from Reflexology, it is recommended to have a course of regular treatments, as the effects are cumulative. It is a relaxing and non-invasive therapy, involving the application of light pressure and gentle stimulation to particular reflexes on your hands and feet. It is very common to fall asleep during the treatment as it is a deeply relaxing. You will be treated on a comfortable and supportive reclining chair, specifically designed for reflexology, where you will remain fully clothed - removing only your shoes and socks.
As a holistic therapist I aim to work with the individual as a whole being, rather than just with their presenting symptoms. Everyone is unique, and your treatments should reflect that. Therefore, after taking a short medical and lifestyle review during the initial consultation, I work with the client to create a personalised treatment plan. This ensures treatments are tailored to suit their individual needs, thus ensuring the client can gain the greatest benefits from their treatments. I also offer relevant holistic lifestyle advice to encourage the client to make small positive changes, to continue the benefits of Reflexology outside of the treatment space.
Whilst planning for a family should be a time of excitement, for some it can prove rather challenging. Conception is a complex journey, as there are many interrelated factors, such as the correct balance of hormones and the timing of the ovulation period. Finding balance between the aforementioned factors alone can prove rather stressful for a couple. At Remedies by Emily, I believe in creating a safe space for my clients, to encourage them to breathe, reflect and take some much needed time for themselves.
One major influencing factor of an individuals ability to conceive, is stress. Stress can have a profound affect on our health, therefore I aim to work with the client to encourage true relaxation, and promote better functioning of the body's natural healing processes. Through the combination of a calming environment, tailored treatment plan, and holistic lifestyle suggestions, I aim to create a healthy and holistic environment ready for conception.
When pregnant, clients can receive treatments after the first trimester (12 weeks). Taking care of your health and wellbeing during this journey is deeply important. Reflexology is a safe and gentle treatment that can help with the many symptoms associated with pregnancy, such as; back pain, mood swings, lack of sleep, sickness, and fluid retention.
Reflexology can also be very helpful in supporting a client postnatally; research has shown that Reflexology can support breastfeeding, by encouraging the production of key hormones prolactin and oxytocin. It can also promote deep relaxation, increase circulation, encourage immune system functioning, and allow some you-time, which is rarely prioritised whilst adapting to parenthood.
Please note, Reflexology does not claim to diagnose, or cure. I do not offer a medical treatment. If you are struggling with conceiving, it is advisable that you speak to your G.P. Unfortunately, I do not guarantee that the end result will be pregnancy.
Indian head massage is an ancient therapeutic treatment that has been practiced in India for thousands of years. It involves the manipulation of soft tissues in the upper back, arms, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. A range of specific massage techniques, pressures, and rhythms are used, to allow for a deeply relaxing treatment. Stress often presents itself as physical tension and is commonly felt in the neck and shoulders. Over time, such tension can accumulate and trigger several adverse symptoms and side effects, such as, impairment of life energy circulation to that area, restriction of movement, and referred pain.
As a holistic therapist, I encourage and practice the use of natural, alternative therapies to help relieve symptoms associated with a variety of ailments. Indian Head Massage offers a number of benefits, including; the stimulation and improvement of scalp circulation – which in turn encourages the growth and strength of hair, blood circulation is increased locally – bringing oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the face, the function of respiratory systems is encouraged – increasing energy and providing fresh oxygen to vital organs. It also helps strengthen and mobilize the muscles, tissues and spinal nerves of the head, face, scalp, neck, shoulders, upper spine, hands and arms.
Indian Head Massage is effective in relieving the symptoms associated with headaches, Temporomandibular joint syndrome, facial palsy, sinusitis, facial spasm, depression, insomnia, anxiety attacks, migraines, tinnitus, dizziness, eye strain, hypertension, carpal tunnel syndrome due to referred pain, frozen shoulder, neck and upper back pain.
Before the treatment begins, I demonstrate some light breath-work techniques, as I consider it a crucial part to aiding in relaxation, as it increases awareness of one physical self. Shifting focus to one’s breath can instantly reduce feelings of anxiousness or stress and can allow you to feel present and grounded.
For the initial treatment, we will have a short consultation to ensure I can tailor the treatment to your needs. A typical massage lasts about 40 minutes and is a dry treatment. It begins with the upper spine and shoulders. Through a combination of relaxing massage techniques and varied pressure, I work along muscles such as the Trapezius, where tension is often held, to encourage relaxation and relieve such tension. Working this area also relieves headaches and improves the circulation of the Cerebrospinal fluid. Moving to the arms, and hands, I then apply hand Reflexology techniques to further encourage homeostasis within the body. Finally, I work on the head and scalp, using precise and relaxing techniques, to relieve tension and encourage circulation to the area, thus promoting healthy hair growth. Indian head massage also includes a gentle face massage to aid circulation, improve skin tone, and reduce sinus problems and headaches.
At the end of the treatment, I demonstrate further light breath-work, to slowly reawaken their senses and physical body, and leave them feeling relaxed and revitalized.
An indulgent adaptation to a typical Reflexology session. Incorporating hot stones into the treatment allows for a deeper sense of relaxation, the release of muscle tension and increased circulation. Hot stones have been shown to lower cortisol levels and help to support the parasympathetic nervous system to help the body reverse the stress reaction.
The use of hot stones as a healing treatment has been around for thousands of years, ancient civilisations believed that hot stones cleansed the body, relaxed the heart, and encouraged grounding of the soul and the mind. The stones have also been used in some cultures to ease menstrual cramps, some women would even hold the stones during labour for 'endurance and strength'. It wasn't until 1990's that the treatment regained its popularity in the western world, where it is now increasingly popular, and is widely recognised for encouraging deep relaxation and its numerous beneficial properties.
During this treatment I will work on your feet, legs and up to your knees, for this reason it is recommended to wear loose fitted clothing. Each individual's toleration of heat will be different, therefore in order to ensure you feel comfortable, I will check the temperature is right for you a few times throughout the session. Using large stones to warm and massage the legs and feet, and small stones to work reflex points and more specific areas, this treatment asks nothing more from you than to relax, put your feet up and allow yourself some time out.
Contraindications: in some conditions, the application of heat is not recommended, including areas of inflammation, varicose veins, rheumatoid arthritis, or skin conditions that can be aggravated by moisture and heat, such as dermatitis. Cool stones may be used if there are any muscle injuries or inflammation such as varicose veins.
